Experiential Education

#GivingTuesday Goal: $15,000

This Giving Tuesday (12/3), we invite you to help make a lasting impact on the youth of Washington County by supporting Cobscook Experiential Programs.

Our students participate in a public four-year experiential high school program, run in partnership with Calais High School, designed for students who want to join a small school community and learn alongside teachers and peers in the community, out in nature, in the classroom, and on the road during five, multi-night learning expeditions throughout the school year. We believe education thrives beyond the traditional classroom. It grows through hands-on experiences, time in nature, and real-world skill-building.

Our work does not stop when the school year ends. Cobscook Summer Camps offer sailing, outdoor skills, and nature-focused programs that help young people build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun in the outdoors. Our highly skilled instructors ensure that campers grow not only in adventure but also in responsibility and outdoor safety.

This Giving Tuesday, our goals are to raise $10,000 to support our experiential high school program and $5,000 to fund summer camp scholarships. We believe every young person deserves access to a supportive, inclusive, and enriching learning environment, and we strive to be that place.

Here are some of the costs your donation can support:

  • $100 provides rain gear for two students

  • $360 covers camping for the D.C. trip

  • $500 provides food for a week-long learning expedition

  • $600 helps purchase a used canoe for student expeditions and summer camps (that canoe will travel at least 100 miles over a year during school and summer camp trips!)

  • $1,000 supports the May learning trip

Please consider donating this Giving Tuesday.
Together, we can continue offering transformational experiences that help local youth grow, learn, and thrive.

With gratitude,
Shaun Haskins & Kara McCrimmon
