Maria McMorrow
she/her/hers
Teacher, Cobscook Experiential Programs
Maria became acquainted with Cobscook Institute when she moved to Washington County the first time in 2012. The following summer during her Americorps term at the Downeast Salmon Federation, she co-founded River Camp in partnership with Cobscook’s Michael Giudilli. Over the past decade she has been a regular in the kitchen at Pizza Night and co-leading field trips for Cobscook Experiential Program.
Maria is a certified EMT, Registered Maine Guide (Recreation & White Water) and has a Conditional Maine 7-12 Teaching Certification, Life Science & Spanish. In recent years Maria has been in charge of the snowboard lesson program at Sugarloaf Mountain and worked guiding canoe trips in spring, summer and fall, mostly through Chewonki in Wiscasset. She has many trips on the Allagash and St. Croix under her belt, but also loves the St. John in northern Maine and the Riviere Coulonge in western Quebec. When she isn’t leading camping trips for work, Maria can be found playing on the water for fun! She also loves fixing and creating things, especially with yarn and fabric. She would argue that Earl Grey tea is best prepared over campfire and served with a touch of milk!
