Create and install your email signature
This tutorial is for creating a new signature. If you need to edit an existing one, click here.
Create your signature
1. Fill out the form below
2. Copy your new signature
This step is for both Windows and Mac.
Once you've filled out the form above, you'll receive an email from Cobscook Institute with your new signature.
I. Open the email. If you're using Outlook, the Cobscook Institute logo may not appear. Click Download Pictures to show the entire signature.
II. Drag your cursor to select the entire signature, so it looks like this:
III. Press Ctrl + C on your keyboard to copy the signature.
(Press command + C on Mac.)
IV. Continue to Step 3 to install your signature.
3. Install your signature on Windows
If you're using a Mac, skip to Step 6.
If you’re using Outlook, continue below. If you’re using Gmail, skip to Step 5.
Outlook
If the icon below is at the bottom of your screen, then you're using Outlook.
4. Outlook
I. Click File
II. Click Options in the left pane
III. Click Mail in the left pane
IV. Click the Signatures... button
V. This opens the Signatures window:
VI. Click the New Button
VII. Enter "Cobscook Institute Signature" for the name
VIII. Next to New messages, select "Cobscook Institute Signature"
IX. Click the text box at the bottom of the window. Press Ctrl + V on your keyboard.
X. This should paste the signature. The formatting might not look right, but ignore this. Click OK.
XI. Compose a new message and make sure the signature looks correct.
XII. You're done! Finish and get help at the bottom of the page.
5. Gmail
This step is for both Windows and MacOS.
I. Go to gmail.com and sign in using your Cobscook Institute Google account.
II. Click the gear icon at the top right and select See all Settings.
III. Scroll to Signatures. Select Create new
IV. Enter a name for the signature, then click the box to enter it on the right:
V. Press Ctrl + V on your keyboard. This should paste your signature.
(Use command + V on Mac)
VI. Scroll to the bottom and click Save Settings.
VII. Compose an email, and make sure your signature is correct.
VIII. You're done! Finish and get help at the bottom of the page.
6. Install your signature on Mac
Are you using Outlook for Mac, MacOS Mail, or Gmail?
If you have to go to a web browser like Chrome or Safari to access email, you're using Gmail. Go to Step 5 if you're using Gmail.
If not, check the icons for Outlook for Mac and MacOS Mail below. One of these will be in your dock (bottom of screen) if you use them. These are the two apps covered in this tutorial.
7. Outlook for Mac
I. Go to Outlook > Preferences...
II. Click Signatures.
III. This should open the Signatures window:
IV. Click the + button. This will open a new signature window.
V. Press command + V.
VI. This should paste your signature. Click the red close dot (upper left corner) on the window. Click Save.
VII. Double click "Untitled". Enter "Cobscook Institute Signature" and hit return.
VIII. Next to New Messages:, select Cobscook Institute Signature.
IX. Close the Signatures window. Compose a new email and make sure your signature looks correct.
X. You're done! Finish and get help at the bottom of the page.
8. MacOS Mail
I. Go to Mail > Preferences...
II. Click the Signatures tab. This should open the signature settings:
III. Select "Cobscook Institute" in the left pane (this might be named something else, like your first name or your email).
IV. Click +.
V. Enter "Cobscook Institute Signature". Press return.
VI. Deselect "Always match my default message font" (important).
VII. Click the text box on the right, and delete any text that is there.
VIII. Press command + V.
IX. This should paste your signature. The images won't appear, ignore this. They will appear when composing your message.
X. Close the window, and compose a message to make sure your signature is correct.
XI. You're done! Finish and get help at the bottom of the page.
